slippers à montréal

the first "slipper clinic" was NOT a success - i had planned an open knitting circle on a weekday afternoon in a café here in Montreal, and had at least 1 person confirm in advance that she would drop by - but she came down with some horrible bug (on her birthday, too!) and didn't show. so - i had a nice afternoon in a comfy café, knitting away, to the bemusement of the staff. i just finished the 2nd of a pair of mouse slippers, and am ready for a new project! i am going to give these to some old neighbors of ours. i hope he finds them comfy; they DO have a seam on the sole- - next project won't (i'm looking for something that uses a leather or suede sole) mouse slipps at: www.claquee.blogspot.com/

FO time!

The young one's slippers are finally finished and dry enough to try on.

here's a before shot:

not too impressive, huh? Buuuuuuttt... after several DAYS in front of the heater they finally dried out enough to fit them onto the lovely feet of their intended recipient.

Looks great, I think. I am feeling much better about my felting skills since this successful prject. Only two more pairs to go!! One for DH which will be black with grey cuffs, and a pair for me, which will be another pair of sapphire blues with bright lime green cuffs.

finished bootees

i so wish i could take a photo of the bootees that i just finished for my friends' baby - they're soooo adorable (although probably not technically slippers) - they're in some of the Bergère de France that my mother-in-law sent from her late mum's stash. i am so happy to be making something with the yarn from mamie poisson! one of the ideas i had when i came across the slipper-along is to have a "slipper clinic" in a public place in Montreal, a café most likely, for people who are currently already knitting / crocheting slippers & just want to create together. i am going to be making some animal feet-wear for my kids, and am still looking for the Simple Crochet book so i can make myself some Turkish slippers. (but at the same time, i don't want to look TOO hard for the book, as I would probably come home with 4 new knitting books) would anyone have any thoughts they could send along to me about the idea of a slipper meet-up? cheers! kelli ann

Felted Fuzzy Feet

Slippers #2 are done! Felted Fuzzy Feet made with yarn I dyed with Kool-aid. I love my new strawberry and orange slippers. The pattern was very easy and really made up quickly. Come see them on my blog! My Blog

My first pair for the knitalong

I didn't have a pattern for these, but intended that be like the Turkish slippers that everyone is making. I had some Lion Brand Chunky that needed to be used for something and the slippers looked easy enough to just wing it. Now I just have to get the insoles for them. I’m pretty sure walking on crochet is a form of torture practiced somewhere on the planet. The blog won't let me post a picture here, but you can visit my blog, Gotta Make Something to see them. I have an idea for some knitted, felted ones I want to try next.

Third pair of Turkish Slippers for me too! ^_^

Here are another recently finished pair of Turkish Slippers that I made for a pink-lovin' friend (I nearly forgot to post them here! ^_^). I tried out a little striping action this time using three colours - bright pink (main colour), medium pink, and a light pink. They worked out great, though I wish I could have ended in a bright pink stripe, but that's life. I planned it out, but they were just too short to add another row. Oh well. They look fine, anyway. I hope she likes them!

can you say slippers?

Here they are!!! The 3rd pair of Turkish Slippers!!!! It's taken awhile to get this pic up, but it's finally happened!!! hehe ^_^ I think i'll be taking a little break on these now...but I'm sure, I'll return to this pattern sometime in the future!!!

Just thought I'd share my favourite pair of slippers as well!!! My grandmother made these about 4 years ago....and they're still kickin' around. I think I ought to put in a request for a new pair though...the bottoms are starting to wear a little thin! Yes, I know how to knit now and maybe I should make my own, but when I wear these I think of her and it wouldn't "seem" right if she didn't make them for me!!! ^_^ (I've been wearing this type since I was a little girl.)

My second pair of slippers. ^_^

Here they are: Turkish Slippers No. 2! ^_^ I'm much more pleased with this pair. I think my crocheting skills have improved. I was completely faithful to the pattern this time, and I like the result a lot better, and I think I understand what was off about the first pair now (I may make some adjustments to those when I get the time). I used Bernat cotton again - this time in variagated purple, which I think worked out well. They're a Christmas gift, and I'm glad to have it finished... now, on to the next gift! ^_^
