Entry: can you say slippers? Dec 8, 2004



Here they are!!! The 3rd pair of Turkish Slippers!!!! It's taken awhile to get this pic up, but it's finally happened!!! hehe ^_^ I think i'll be taking a little break on these now...but I'm sure, I'll return to this pattern sometime in the future!!!


Just thought I'd share my favourite pair of slippers as well!!! My grandmother made these about 4 years ago....and they're still kickin' around. I think I ought to put in a request for a new pair though...the bottoms are starting to wear a little thin! Yes, I know how to knit now and maybe I should make my own, but when I wear these I think of her and it wouldn't "seem" right if she didn't make them for me!!! ^_^ (I've been wearing this type since I was a little girl.)

Please... please tell me you have a pattern for your slippers? My grandmother used to make slippers almost identical to yours above. She called them service socks. My grandma passed away in 2002 and passed down her pattern to me but sadly this past summer our home caught on fire and I lost everything. I miss her, her slippers and all her patterns terribly. If you know someone with a pattern like the one above please e-mail a copy to wayne_leanne@hotmail.com. I would be forever thankful.

Lookin' good, Lana! ^_^ I like the kickin' up your heels look in the photo, and with the tree it's so Christmassy! Nice pic of the slippers your Nan made too. I have a pic I'm going to post on my blog of my favourite socks that Nan D knit me... they've been darned already and are unravelling again from constant use! haha. I agree with the sentiment of thinking of her everytime I wear them. That's why I always ask for them for Christmas! ^_^

Oh yes they sure do!!!! It's probably best to knit them a little smaller than the length of your foot, so they'll stretch to fit. After awhile if they start feeling a little loose, I just wash them to shrink them little!!! ^_^

The Turkish slippers are so attractive. I've been thinking of joining the Slippers KnitAlong just to have an excuse to get the book and make my own. Do they stay on when you're walking around?
